One of my chick customers sent me this video recently, asking about the squishy ball on her babies’ throats.

One of my chick customers sent me this video recently, asking about the squishy ball on her babies’ throats.

This is the baby’s crop, a little pouch on the right side of her throat that she stuffs full of food. Over time, the food is released into the gizzard where it is ground up into smaller pieces in preparation for being digested. It’s perfectly normal and healthy.
