Back-Up Power for your Incubator

As we enter the stormy season, you can buy yourself a little peace of mind in the event of a power outage.

I plug the battery back-up into the wall and plug my devices into it. It charges while supplying power to my devices and then, during a power outage, my devices draw power from it. It won’t cover me for a long outage, but it will cover the gap between losing power and getting the generator going.

I started with a less expensive battery back-up, but it wasn’t enough as I frequently have three Brinsea cabinets, a Brinsea 56, a Brinsea 28, three Hovabator hatchers and three humidity pumps going. So I got a more powerful battery back-up, and now I have all the incubators hooked up to the big guy and the peripherals hooked up to the smaller one.

For most home hatchers, the little — and less expensive battery back-up — will suffice, and right now it is 17% off at Amazon

One of the features I appreciate in the big one, is an audible beep that sounds when it is running off battery; this has saved my eggs when the breaker has flipped or the plugger has been jostled.
